University of Surrey Catholic Chaplaincy
There are many different orders in the Catholic Church. All of them share the same Faith, but they each have their own role and their own character. The main orders were founded to follow a way of life practised by a particular Saint. For example, the Franciscans live by Christ's humility and poverty, as did their founder, St Francis of Assisi. The Dominicans have a preaching vocation, following their founder St Dominic, and the Benedictines follow the monastic rule of St Benedict.
